What happens when
| Registration opens | Early September, for all contests. |
| Contest day | The test PDF unlocks 12 hours before administration; scanned answer sheets are due back within 24 hours of the exam. |
| Preliminary results | Distributed to schools roughly three weeks after each competition. |
| Official results & AIME qualification | Sent to schools in early January (AMC 10/12) and spring (AMC 8). |
| AIME | Qualifying students sit the AIME in February at no extra cost; answer sheets due within 24 hours. |
