How to participate

To take the AMC 10/12 or AMC 8 you normally need a teacher at your school to organise the competition. Point them to the information for schools — everything they need is there, and they can apply for an account in a few minutes.

If your school won't take part (or there's no participating school near you), you can register as an individual student. We'll match you with a school or test center willing to host you on test day — AEC in London (aectutors.co.uk) hosts external students for an additional invigilation fee, and options exist in Paris and elsewhere.

Preparing for the competition

The Art of Problem Solving website maintains archives of past contests. Working problems from these is the best way to prepare.

Which exams can I take?

Students may take both the AMC 10 and AMC 12 across the two dates (A and B), but only one exam per date. Students in grade 10 and below have additional flexibility in choosing between the AMC 10 and AMC 12.

Students who do well on the AMC 10/12 qualify for the AIME at no extra cost.
